Esthetics Foundations

All graduates of this program can practice as estheticians.

Graduates must determine if licensing is required in the province they intend to work.

All successful graduates in good standing will receive a diploma (no fees outstanding).

Graduates can work in resort spas, cruise ships, day spas, nail salons, hair salons, cosmetic retail, or a home-based business.

The curriculum is primarily based on the Milady’s textbook series, along with other teacher-made materials and internet resources. The college supplies all equipment, spa furniture, and the majority of supplies.

This full-time, diploma program is 660 hours.

  • Spa Professional: 60 hours (All theory)
  • Waxing: 120 hours (Theory & Practical)
  • Nails 1 – Manicures: 120 hours
  • Nails 2 – Pedicures: 120 hours (Theory & Practical)
  • Makeup Foundations: 120 hours (Theory & Practical)
  • Facial Therapy: 120 hours (Theory & Practical)

To apply and be accepted into this program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a graduate of grade 12 with a high school diploma or GED equivalent. A BC Dogwood Diploma is also acceptable.
  • You must be 19 years of age or older.
  • ESL applicants must have a minimum of grade 10 English proficiency. You are required to have a 5.5+ IELTS (Academic) certificate or other ESL certification that meets the Canadian learning benchmark.

Yes, this program is approved and designated by the P.T.I.B. (Private Training Institution Branch) of the Province of British Columbia.

  • Admin Fee: $100 – Non-refundable processing fee
  • Deposit: $250 – Non-refundable enrollment deposit
  • Course Tuition: $10,000 – Esthetics Foundations Program
  • Esthetics Smock: $60 – Dress code
  • Course Kit: $400 – Kits will be available onsite. There will be other supplies required or to replenish.
  • Course Textbooks: $440 – The required books and correct publications may be purchased from any source.
  • Equipment Suggested: Laptop/Notebook for any online learning resources.
  • Materials: Pens, paper, binder, dividers, and highlighter. (Instructor will advise on additional items.)
  • Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, students will have demonstrated the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be competent esthetic professionals. They will be able to explain general trade practices, demonstrate proper sterilization and sanitization procedures, demonstrate proper communication and professionalism, explain and demonstrate infection control measures, understand safety protocols, explain key principles related to electricity, understand the beauty business, and will have demonstrated effective skills and properly performed procedures in manicuring, pedicuring, waxing, facials, and makeup application.
  • Assessment Methods: Formative assessments are used in the theory topics. (Discussions, student demonstrations, quizzes, and related activities). Students are provided with demonstrations and opportunities to practice skills under direct supervision. Students will receive formative feedback and additional training and support. Students must achieve a 60% grade or higher in theory, and they must provide industry-standard practical skills for all modalities to receive competency status to pass.
  • Attendance Policy: Students must maintain an 80% or higher attendance record to pass.
  • Education Delivery: In class, 100%.
  • Dress Code: Neat, clean, and professional (Esthetic smock).

The program is currently under review and waiting for approval by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) within the System Integrity Branch (SIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills
