CMACollege Workplace English for
Esthetics Professionals

General topics covered will include greetings, customer enquiries and assisting customers, introducing and suggesting potential items for sale to customers, taking payments, leave-taking, customer care and promoting long-term customer relationships. The course will also cover language related to skin and hair care, nutrition, diet and meal planning, weight management, technology used in skin care, types of skin treatment, human anatomy, massage and relaxation, and factors specific to men’s health and women’ s health.

CMA College holds an Intern-certification with the Provincial Government. The program has been reviewed and approved by the PTIB Government of B.C.

Note: After completion of the Workplace English for Esthetics Professionals program to develop the higher language skills required for work, students may choose to continue to English for Academic Purposes for degree and postgraduate co-op programs or field education at college or university.

There are 4 course levels from Elementary to Advanced.

Each course level is 100 hours over five weeks.

Students can enroll in two of the four courses.  Please contact us to discuss options.

Classes are 20 hours per week. Lessons are online.  

An official CMA College Certificate and transcript is awarded on completion.

Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Communicate competently at a level required for employment or post secondary education, showing flexibility and clarity of thought and expression.
  2. Communicate competently and flexibly, to interact culturally appropriately, in a variety of workplace, post-secondary and/or societal environments.
  3. Conduct research and write essays/papers/reports according to academic conventions at a level required by colleges, universities, and/or the workplace.
  4. Develop thorough general knowledge gained in a wide range of subjects, and insight into both self and society.
  5. Develop flexibility and clarity of both thought and expression to develop communications competence to a level required by business and industry.
  6. Understand and utilize critical-thinking processes and problem-solving techniques.
  7. Examine and evaluate various aspects of our changing society to assist in developing a sense of personal and social responsibility as a citizen in society.
  8. Employ basic vocational skills drawn from the areas of the humanities, social and behavioural sciences, or vocational studies (business, technology).

CMACollege’s Workplace English for Esthetics Professionals assists those currently working in, or wishing to work in, the personal care industry with an emphasis on the beauty treatment, spa, skin care and weight management sectors. It will provide communication strategies for interacting with customers, assessing their needs and communicating intelligibly and accurately.
